The kids are getting antsy – school is so close to being finished, and the days are hotter than ever when they arrive home from school. Ramping up the fun this weekend, you can get a bit of a preview for summer and enjoy some of the great activities for families in Edmonton.
What to do with Kids this Weekend in Edmonton:
Nature Play Day | 52535 Range Rd 212 (Ardrossan)
There’s a free, everyone gets to play day, at Strathcona Wilderness Centre on June 11. There are outdoor activities, games and more for kids and families. It’s a great chance to explore the space, if you’ve never been there and see the many fun activities that families can take part in at the Wilderness Centre.

Super Magical Fun Day | Callingwood Marketplace
Bring the kids to meet their favourite princesses and superheroes! There will be photo opps with the characters, a bouncy castle, petting zoo and live entertainment including a bubble show, magic show and street performer. There’s a bubble show, magic act and more.

Dream Day at Maple Crest | Maple Crest Community
third annual DREAM DAYcelebrations. This special family event offers a wide range of fun activities including a FREE barbecue, children’s entertainment and treats, great draw prizes, and the Grand Opening of six Stage Five duplex show homes. Activities will be hosted from Noon to 4:30 pm, with most of them in the new Stage 5 park and playground area adjacent the duplex show homes.

Touch a Truck | 100 Ave and 101 St (Fort Saskatchewan)
We’re back with another Touch a Truck event! Once again you are able to climb, touch and of course sit in those “vehicles” that you see in the community! Plus we have some new vehicles joining us this year! Admission is $5 per person or $20 for a family of four or more, Children under 12 months are Free.
Devon Days | Devon
The midway, the parade, the small town feel that comes with the events through the weekend, those are a few reasons to make the trip to Devon this year. From the community centre kick off to the family fun all weekend long, you can check out the schedule to see what you’re going to take part in. Buddy day is Friday Night, where you can get two for one rides at the Midway.

River Day | 2903 113 Ave (Rundle Park)
Kick off the day with a pancake breakfast, and take part in the Learn to fish at the “Pathways to Fishing” program sponsored by Berkley and The Fishin’ Hole. You can meet your industry neighbours, learn about water quality, ride in a voyageur canoe, try out kayak polo on the polo pond, try stand up paddle boarding or try an introductory canoe, kayak or stand up paddle boarding lesson for only $10. Book in advance online or by calling 311.

Learn to Camp at Elk Island Park | Elk Island Park
The Learn to Camp program is a great introduction to one of Canada’s favourite pastimes, camping. This program is intended for people who want to experience the pleasure of camping overnight but just need a helping hand. Learn to Camp helps you to plan and enjoy safe and successful camping trips. The event features workshops on camping related skills like how to set up a tent or cook in the outdoors. Participants have the opportunity to enjoy fun interpretive programs and other Parks Canada activities, like canoeing.

Drop in Bike Safety Program | Mill Woods Town Centre
Free and fun basic bike safety skills are the focus. For participants of all ages on 2 wheels or 4 wheels! Children 5 and under require a parent or guardian to attend the program. Families are encouraged to participate!

Cineplex Family Favourites | Cineplex Theatres
Movies are just so much easier to bring the family to when they’re $2.99. On Saturday mornings at Cineplex, you can see family favourites for under three bucks. This week, it’s Minions.
