The weather is getting spooky, we’ve got pumpkins decorating our house and the Halloween costume search has begun – that’s right – it’s starting to feel like Halloween. As it gets closer and closer, there are more and more things to do with the kids too celebrate.

Explore the Haunted Pumpkin Festival All Weekend Long
On Fall Weekends, the Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm, attracts families from across the nation to Edmonton’s countryside every fall! An autumn outing to the pumpkin patch and this charming month-long Halloween festival is an annual tradition. There’s been over 1 million guests to the farm have enjoyed the farm since 1956!
Explore the Paper Playground at Arden Theatre
We need your help to discover an imaginary world, together! A stimulating experience set on a large paper carpet, Paper Playground is full of dancing, live music, drawing and projections. Fully immersive this multi sensory experience welcomes kids six and under as true creative collaborators and essential parts of the performance. Exploring the theme of water with boats, fish, crabs and sharks, performers from Vancouver s Foolish Operations, present irresistible invitations to kids to roll, fall, draw, breathe and move along with them! Known for creating new dance experiences, Foolish Operations celebrates children as agents of their own imaginations as they explore the power of play and re-shape reality through dance and related performing arts.
Halloween Haunt at Servus Place
Servus Credit Union presents the Halloween Haunt! Join us for a ghoulishly good time! Admission: Drop-in admission or membership required. Wristbands are available for purchase October 18 starting at 5:30 a.m. We’ll have something for all ages, featuring some spooktacular activities in the following locations: SECOND FLOOR MEZZANINE Spooky Crafts Creepy Crawly Pets St. Albert Public Library StoryWalk Appropriate for all ages GYM COURTS Inflatable Haunted House Appropriate for all ages.

The Spooktacular Acreage is back for 2019. You’ve got to check out this kid-friendly way to kick off Halloween in Edmonton. There are hundreds of inflatables, animatronics and Halloween displays that are perfect for young kids! Don’t forget your food bank donations or Christmas gift donations for children under twelve – it’s a fun night out with the family, just outside of Edmonton in Spruce Grove.
HALLOWEEN DRIVE IN
HALLOWEEN DRIVE-IN 2019 in Edmonton Load up the car (& trunk) with family & friends and come enjoy a spooky Halloween movie under the stars in a fun classic Drive-In! Come out on FRIDAY OCTOBER 18, 2019 and celebrate Halloween with us and Canada’s largest inflatable Drive-In movie screen, standing over 4-Stories tall! This is a DOUBLE FEATURE event, BUT tickets are sold separately. There will be two movies played: Toy Story 4 and ANNABELLE (if you have older kids, that are up for the scarier feature!)

WHAT TO DO ON SATURDAY
Family Halloween Art Party
Perfect for babies, tots, and older children, join us this October for our family Halloween Art Party! Come dressed in your favourite fall outfit or Halloween costume as the morning will begin with a mini fall or Halloween-themed photo session with Roughley Originals Photography! Then, you and your child will paint a one-of-a-kind keepsake plate to treasure for years to come, using your child’s footprint, handprint, or finger prints. The design is ultimately up to you. Treats will be served while you paint.
Take a Ghost Tour in Old Strathcona
A ghostly walk through Old Strathcona, where we stop in front of certain building, houses, and shops to hear true stories of ghosts, hauntings, murders, and mysteries. These are all true stories that are researched from area events and first hand accounts from area residents & business owners. The tours are hosted by an Award Winning Professional Storyteller with 14+ years of experience. The 2019 Halloween tours are a great outing for the whole family.
BAKUGUN PLAYDATE AT TOYS R US
Join us for a friendly battle and play against other Bakugan brawlers. Each brawler will receive a FREE* Bakugan Poster. Kids can enter to win prizes, at themed playdates at local stores every weekend.
STOP BY A LOCAL PLAYGROUND FOR FALL GREENSHACK PROGRAMMING
Get active and join in on games, sport, crafts, music, drama and special events! A complete list of activities and special events are posted on the side of Green Shacks each week. If there is a game or activity that peaks your child’s interest that you would like to have included in programming, just ask the Program Leader.
DROP IN SATURDAY AT THE AVIATION MUSEUM
On select Saturdays through the fall, there will be additional drop in activities for children between the ages of 6-12 at the Aviation Museum. Regular admission applies, and activities will be created between 12-4 on Saturday. Stop by for some additional kid-friendly programming.
WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY
Make a Wall Hanging at Chapters Indigo
Calling All movers and makers! Join us and create DIY woven wall hangings using pipe cleaners and pompous. Plus demo Giant Crazy Crayons and take home Kid Made Modern Coloured Pencils- the perfect addition to any crafters kits. Space is limited! Ticket price per event: $10+tax &service fees(up to $2.50) Admission of 1 child per event. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
MARVEL: UNIVERSE OF SUPER HEROES
It’s finally open! Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes features more than 300 artifacts, including some of Marvel’s most iconic and sought-after pages, costumes, and props. Spectacular artifacts to thrill both avid collectors, and casual fans—while immersive set pieces, soundscapes, and interactive elements bring the comic book world to life!
McConachie Halloween Parade Walk/Run
Come dressed in your Halloween finest as we run or walk 5 KM through McConachie. We go rain or shine, but if the weather is chilly, we’ll have hot chocolate to help warm you up. The start and finish is at the new McConachie Playground at 180 McConachie Drive. This is not a timed event. It is open to all ages, strollers and wagons are welcome, but due to start and finish location we unfortunately cannot allow pets.
