What to do in Edmonton this Weekend (With Kids) May 27-29

There’s so much going on this weekend that you can plan an entire weekend of fun (for free!) with the kids. If you’re spending the weekend in town, we’re sharing what to do this weekend with kids to help you get started on those family fun weekend plans.

Fire Station Open House | Fire Station 11 6110 98 Ave
Meet your local community Firefighters and Fire Prevention Officers along with staff from Office of Emergency Management for a FREE Fire Station Open House. Check out the fire trucks and equipment, learn how to be fire safe, and know how to prepare your family in case of an emergency.

What the Truck | Northlands
We’re kicking off 2016 with not one, but TWO days of food trucks! There will be two different truck lineups over the weekend to make sure you get your fill after the winter hibernation! Read our tips to help make the experience with kids, easy.
When: Saturday/Sunday

Fun Fest at Kernohan | 415 Clareview Road, NW
Stop by Kernohan to see our beautiful townhome show suites. Free ice cream, family fun, and much more at the family-friendly event.
When: Saturday, 12-5

Rainmaker Rodeo | St. Albert
Family fun, a parade, pancake breakfast and the midway. Those are only a few of the things that you’re going to experience at Rainmaker Rodeo.
When: Friday to Sunday

Medieval Day | 7708 85 Street
Displays on Medieval History staffed by club members including armour, artifacts, clothing, feasts, games, helmets, heraldry, melee weapons, pole weapons, ranged weapons, shields, swords and daggers, and more! Tournament Combat in real armour on the hour, Period Dancing with Lady Jeanette on the half hour and Medieval weapon demonstration at 2 pm.

Terwillegar Twilight Movie | 10 Rabbit Hill Road NW
There’s a kick off to the outdoor movie season that you’re not going to want to miss. You can take advantage of the nice weather, bring a picnic, take part in family activities and even cool off in the adjacent spray park before the movie begins at sunset.
When: Friday, sunset (9:45)

Plant and Play 2016 | Riverbend Gardens 3830 195 Ave NE
Come out to the farm for kids games, wagon rides, hot dogs and gorgeous plants for your garden! Buy $100, receive a free hanging basket. Invite your friends and your family. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the farm!
When: May 29, 10-4

Edmonton Reptile Show | 14230 133 Ave
Come out and learn about species of reptiles and amphibians from around the world! The ERAS Spring Show & Sale provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, and the proper care needed to keep your pet happy and healthy. The Show will feature a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates on display.
When: Saturday (10-5), Sunday (11-4)

Drive in at the Ave | 93 St & 118 Ave
Watch Finding Nemo at Alberta Ave as an outdoor movie to kick off the season. There’s parking at 93 St & 118 Ave. Free but donations welcome. Concession will be available at the event.
When: May 28, 2016 at dusk (around 10 pm)
