Street Performer’s Festival | All weekend Long
There’s something about seeing a performance of a contortionist or a fire juggler for the first time, and if you’re a child, it’s like a brand new experience every single year. Take your kids to the performance and see something new this year. It’s budget friendly, and you can often find delicious food vendors there in case you want to taste something new while you’re seeing something new. Plus, the kids area is always a hit.
Tube Down the River | All weekend Long
Get out of town this weekend and tube down the river, at Pembina. The under-three-hour trip provided plenty of places for us to stop along the way, and it’s great for kids 4+ that want to wade, float and sit in a tube long enough to enjoy the ride. When you’re finished, you end up at the day use area, a great place to play and explore even more, to extend your day. Bring a picnic, and have a snack when you’re finished, or head into Evansburg and go to the snack shack! Get there early though, if you’re using the shuttle services or renting a tube, the lines can be brutal. If you’ve got your own tubes and transportation, you can skip those lines.
See a $2.99 Movie | Saturday, 11 am
Check out this weekend’s Family Favourite selection, where you can bring everyone in the family to see a movie without breaking the bank. It’s only $2.99/ticket, leaving a bit of room left in the entertainment budget for popcorn. This weekend, Ballerina is screening, and it’s one of the best children’s movies I’ve seen in a while. Worth a trip if the weather is as expected this weekend.
Make an Adventure cape at Creation Space | Saturday
Creation space is an incredible local place for kids to be creative, with parent + child workshops, summer camps and drop in creative time. It’s one of those places you’ve got to experience to get the full idea of just how incredible it is – and believe me, you’ll want to after seeing what they get up to on Instagram. There’s a Shibori cape workshop on Saturday, and it’s $40 for parent + kid, with a light snack and all the supplies you need.

Sand on Whyte | All weekend Long
Sand on Whyte is your chance to see sand sculptures usually reserved for the beach, right inside the city. It’s a chance to discover and explore this year’s sculptures, and see something incredible with the kids. We love that it’s budget friendly, and you can take the entire family on the cheap. Get ice cream after you’re finished, to cool off.
