Discovering new bakeries is quite possibly one of my favourite parts of a weekend spent exploring. Usually, the delicious treats are wrapped up, brought home and enjoyed later that day, or for brunch the next morning – because the lovely little spaces the bakeries occupy are filled to the brim with people devouring those lovely little treats.
This weekend, we made yet another trip to one of our favourite new bakeries, La Boule Bakery. With wonderful eclairs, that feature a host of new flavours every week, and gorgeous design work that almost makes them too pretty to eat, the bakery has risen to the top of the choice of places I want to visit, for a reason – everything is delicious.
From the chocolate caramel tart (my favourite) to delicious, flaky croissants that are ‘way better than Starbucks’ from the mouth of a four year old – there’s plenty to try. Woo your kids with the petit pain au chocolate ($1.25) and get yourself the tart ($4.75).
The kids were not as excited about the eclairs as the adults, but there’s enough available to entice the kids, that you don’t have to worry. For me, the tarts are the star of the show – the chocolate caramel tart has been one of my consistent ‘sweet cravings’ and the reason we keep venturing back.
Tip: Get it to go, it’s easier than trying to wrangle the kids in the busy space, unless you’re there very early to get a coveted table.
Find La Boule Bakery at 8020 101 Street, you can park right outside.
