At Raising Edmonton, we’re committed to keeping local parents up to date with closures and precautions relating to Covid-19. Telus World of Science has made the decision to close temporarily, to reduce the potential spread of the virus.
Telus World of Science Closing Temporarily Starting Friday, March 13.
From the onset of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, TELUS World of Science – Edmonton has been closely monitoring and following guidance from Alberta Health Services and Health Canada. To this point, we have been able to serve guests while following those guidelines by adding extra cleaning and health protocols.
On March 12, 2020 the Alberta Government announced that in the face of this rapidly evolving health threat, it is recommending that no gatherings of 250 or more participants be hosted across the province.
In response to that announcement TELUS World of Science – Edmonton will be closed to the public starting Friday, March 13, 2020. This includes all onsite programs, events, IMAX Theatre and Zeidler Dome shows, retail services, as well as our outreach Science in Motion programs.
We will continue to closely monitor this situation as it evolves, and will share updated information about the re-opening of the science centre with through our other digital channels and on our website.
As leaders in the science conversation TELUS World of Science – Edmonton needs to responsibly serve Edmonton and area. We recommend you keep informed with reliable sources for additional information such as Alberta Health Services, and Health Canada.
The safety and health of our guests, our staff and our community are of paramount importance. We need to follow best practices and not bring people together in large groups.
We do not make this decision to close the science centre lightly but believe strongly in responsibly serving the community and that this early action is the best way for the science centre to help stop the transmission of the virus.
