There are many cool places in Edmonton that are perfect for spending a well-earned allowance – and one of our favourite places lately, is Gummi Boutique. Filled with candy, and childhood throwbacks like Tahiti Treat, it’s one of the most fun trips that you can make on a weekend afternoon.
Finding something new to try at the candy store is easy, and it’s perfect for an after-brunch or after-lunch trip at Famoso Pizzeria or MEAT. This time around, the kids chose a candy with lollipops and a toilet container filled with powder, and a giant jawbreaker (that I think is going to last at least six months). There’s tons to choose from in-store, and they were definitely coveting the enormous rice krispie square that they were sure would last at least a week (Ha!).
The store is filled with quirky murals, and staff are helpful to make suggestions about candy to try if you’re shopping with children that just can’t make a decision about how to spend their allowance. There’s the fun piano prop to look at, funhouse mirrors and a quirky ambience that will have you coming back for more. The bulk section is a great way to make a mix of candy, with some candy that you’re not likely to find in the traditional bulk stores in the city, and are one of my favorite ways to spend a few dollars in the store.
With a great selection, but prices that come with a boutique candy-store, it’s worth the trip for a special occasion, spending a morning or afternoon on Whyte Ave.
