We’re pretty excited about the direction that Borden Park is taking on the redevelopment of the outdoor pool, set to open in 2017. We would love to see additional outdoor wading and swimming pools through the city, and can’t wait to experience the natural swimming area ourselves, next summer.
Instead of chlorine, the pool will be filtered naturally. Water from an aquifer goes through a sand filter, gravel filter and regeneration pond with naturally-occurring zoo plankton. Then plant material, is sent to a UV filter where it is pumped into the main pool. The pool will also be designed to skate on in the winter.
