In addition to the new Victoria Park Pavillion that just opened, there’s something new that you should add to your winter list – the freezeway.
The Victoria Freezeway is a 400 metre path covered in ice, allowing you to get from one point to another, on a flooded path, seeing recycled art along the way. With plans to expand in the future, the 400 metre length is a great distance for little kids.
Put together by WinterCity Edmonton, Make Something Edmonton and the Edmonton Speed Skating Association, the freezeway is just one of the many reasons that you have to get outside in Edmonton.
Our tips: try it at night, or dusk, for an interesting take with colored lights on the path and bring a chariot or another ski type stroller for small children to be pushed in.
There is space for fire pits – making it a great family date idea to skate around, then get warmed up with some hot s’mores.
