For parents searching for some fun on a budget, the St. Albert International Children’s Festival (May 26-30) is a great way to do just that. In addition to the fantastic affordable performances throughout the show and five dollar kids activities (free for parents), there is four days full of programming that won’t cost you a thing. Here’s a little taste of what you’ll find for free at the St. Albert International Children’s Festival:
Roving Entertainment
Walking around site, you can bring a snack and check out some of the roving entertainment, for free. On Saturday, in addition to the roving free entertainment, kids can view a Viking Battle, and even take part in a battle of their own with a pool noodle.
Enmax Moment Photo Booth
When Olivia was small we took part in a similar photo booth and she still has the photo in one of her albums. This year, you can come and see electricity artifacts, use the charging station if your phone is low on battery and get a snapshot to bring home and remember the day.
Education Station
Come and try out the toys that Education Station is bringing along. You can build a castle, or a mountain range, your imagination is the only limit. There are always new stations and toys to provide somewhere to play by Education Station, making it one of our favorite places to stop when we see it!
Make a Masterpiece
With sidewalk chalk stations throughout the festival, kids and adults alike can create a masterpiece to be enjoyed by everyone walking by. This would be a great way to sit down, grab a snack and have the kids occupied for a little break between all of the fun that’s sure to happen at the event.
Get an Airbrush Tattoo/Face Paint
These two fun activities are some of the boys’ favorite when we’re going to events like this. One of them always leaves as Spiderman, and at the end of the day they tell me they want to keep it on forever. Usually, these can come with a hefty price tag, but at the St. Albert International Children’s Festival, you’ll find them both for free.
