Through the summer, we’re fortunate to have festival after festival for the kids (and us) to explore in Edmonton. To celebrate the kick off those festivals, later this month, with the St. Albert Children’s festival – we wanted to share some of our favourite kid-friendly festivals in Edmonton.
St. Albert Children’s Festival | With free activities, performances and the chance to have a few days of fun for only $20/kid, the St. Albert Children’s festival is one of those gems you’ve got to explore with the kids.
Street Performers Festival | The Street performers festival is one of those events where you’re going to watch the festival through the eyes of your child, while you’re just as amused yourself. Plan ahead of time and check out the performance line-up to plan your day, and enjoy the delicious food and snacks from the food trucks while you’re there. With so much fun for the kids, we usually end up going at least a couple of times during the festival.
Taste of Edmonton | Every year, we make two trips to the Taste of Edmonton. We make one ‘adult-only’ trip as a date night, and one trip with the kids. With the kids, we bring a blanket and camp out for dinner, giving the kids the chance to go through the menu with us, and pick a few things that they would like to try. It’s the perfect opportunity to try something new, as a family.
Movies on the Square | Thursdays during the summer are made for movies on the square. Since we’re usually away during the weekend, it’s the perfect time to head downtown for some family fun, bundling the kids up in warm pajamas so they can stay warm once the sun goes down. Cuddling on camp chairs, and showing up early to get the best spot, and having a picnic for dinner, on the square – those are a few of the reasons that Movies on the Square is on our must-do list for Edmonton during the summer.
