Square One has always had me intrigued by the photos on their Facebook page, so Sunday morning I decided it was high time that we went into the restaurant to try out the brunch with the kids. It wasn’t too busy, we arrived just after eleven (brunch is available until 2pm).
The weekend’s special? A breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, cheese and sausage, on a donut. The donut was light and fluffy, but did have a bit of a difficult time containing all of those delicious, delicious breakfast sandwich ingredients inside. It didn’t disappoint. Feeling like ordering something a little lighter, Jamie ordered a standard breakfast with eggs, bacon, and toast, he said it was ‘just okay’ giving me a taste of his eggs. I agreed, they weren’t as delicious as the fat-kid-plethora I just finished.
For the kids, we split an order of pancakes. It came with the choice of sausage or bacon, and we split it up between the kids. The kitchen was fantastic and split up the meal on two plates. Tasting the chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream, they were delicious. Thin, remniscient of crepes, and full of flavor.
I liked them a lot and Olivia finished hers, with all of the sausage, since Violet wasn’t really in the mood to eat. She finished off the fruit that was generously portioned on every meal ordered. I liked that.
For Jamie, the jam was the highlight of the meal. The strawberry pineapple jam (extra cost $1) was worth it and so delicious that the kids were eating it with a spoon after the toast was finished.
Just over $40 for the breakfast, it was standard price for a breakfast for four people. The portion sizes were generous and it was a nice touch to split the kids meal up for us, since they were sharing.
My tip: Go back for the breakfast features (you can find them on Facebook) and the weekend’s recipe for pancakes but skip the regular breakfast, as it didn’t leave us wanting more.
