Engineer a mini-toboggan for our snow slide, build a collaborative ice sculpture, feed our yeti, watch special demos on our science stage, stop in at the many activates facilitated by our invited guests, play Arctic Skill Games with the Inuit Edmonton and much more.
Here’s what to do with the kids during Arctic Ice Day:
Ice Sculptures | Using pre-frozen colored water balloons, everyone will add a piece to an ever growing ice-sculpture!
Feed the Yeti | Understand what snow makes the best snowballs and then try to feed our TWOSE YETI by launching your snow ball into his mouth.
Snowfakes under a Microscope | Have a closer look at the beauty of ice crystals and get a cup of complimentary hot chocolate.
Try Maple Taffy | Learn the science behind taffy from two Lumberjacks. Purchase 1 piece of taffy for $3.50 or or 2 pieces for $6.00
Arctic Ice Digital Universe Show | There’s a special Arctic Ice Digital Universe show at noon and three o’clock in the star theatre, included with admission.
Sensory Activities in Discoveryland | At 1 o’clock and 4 o’clock there are special sensory presentations, along with the Arctic themed storytime.
Build a Race and Toboggan | Do you have the wining toboggan? Design a toboggan to be the first to slide past the finish line of our snow slope & make it to the podium!
Visit with the Edmonton Zoo | Explore various artifacts from the Arctic, such as a polar bear skull. Discover how Arctic animals stay warm with a ‘fat insulation’ activity.
Build your Own Yeti | Combine the various adaptations developed by Arctic wildlife to create your own Yeti who is able to thrive in the arctic!
Melting Ice | Build your own Arctic village. Next: watch as we melt the sea ice and land ice.
