You’ll find something new to explore this summer at an adventure playground.
Visit Jean Vanier School playground on Monday evenings to test out an innovative way of learning through play with Strathcona County Parent Link! This program will harness your child’s natural need to explore and imagine. This non-traditional approach to outdoor play is based on the concept of adventure playgrounds. The intention is to provide opportunities for children to freely explore unconventional materials and tools, with minimal rules. The environment is designed to involve risk.

We can’t say enough positive things about the experience, it was incredible watching the kids build, create and play in an environment that many of the children aren’t familiar with. They get comfortable, quick!
Children need a chance to explore, to test, to create, to build and rebuild their world and they need to be free to do it in their own way (Shier, 1984).
Program runs Mondays for 6 weeks (July 8, 15, 22, 29 and August 12 & 19) from 5pm-7pm. There is no cost for the drop-in program, registration is not required – you can just show up and play.
