The Boardwalk Ice On Whyte Festival is coming back to Edmonton on January 24 to 27, 2019 & January 31 to February 3, 2019.
This is one of our favorite Edmonton Festivals. There’s so much for everyone in the family to do; from enjoying the art, ice sculpting, an epic ice slide, and an ice bar for parents – this Festival is fun for all ages. Check out some of the happenings, here:
L’il Chippers Ice Carving
L’il ones will get a hands-on ice carving lesson in an inflatable igloo! Imaginations run wild with each child getting their own piece of carving ice. L’il Chippers is for children from 6 to 14 years old.Safety gear is provided, and class size is limited to 30 participants. You can find L’il Chippers in the inflatable igloo in the Arrivals Park (Gateway Blvd & Whyte Ave across from the public washrooms) on Saturdays & Sundays, staggered between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Admission to L’il Chippers is included with proof of a Festival ticket purchase.
Ice Carving Competition
Takes place in a giant tent; protecting and creating pristine ice conditions. Grab a coffee for yourself, and a hot chocolate for the kids and warm up in the tent, while perusing the works of art.
Big Chippers Ice Carving
You’ll get a hands-on lesson, safety gear, and your very own piece of carving ice. Big Chippers Ice Carvin is for 15 years old and up. Safety gear provided, and class size is limited to 30 participants. Check here for more information/scheduling: https://www.iceonwhyte.ca/festival/lil-big-chippers/
Ice Bar
No Ice Festival would be complete without an Ice Bar! Enjoy daily featured beer, spirits and try the ice drink luge. Experience locally crafted beverages by Situation Brewing, Rig Hand Craft Distillery, Strathcona Spirits and Hansen Distillery served to you by the friendly faces from Beercade. You can get food and coffee here, too!
Beer Stew Off
Taste a bowl or four of deliciousness at the Beer Stew Off! Local restaurants and chefs will be creating delicious stew with local ingredients at the 5th annual Beer Stew Off on Sunday February 3, 2019 noon to 3:00 PM at Situation Brewing.Taste all four stews and vote for your favourite Beer Stew.
DJ Mike Tomas Live at the Whyte Ice Bar:
See four performances at Ice on Whyte and bring the party outside. You can experience the fun on Friday January 25, 2019 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Saturday January 26, 2019 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Friday February 1, 2019 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Saturday February 2, 2019 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
How much does it cost?
Admission to the festival to see the sculptures up close is $7 for adults, and $4 for children 2 to 13 years old. Children under two are free and if you’ve got a family of four, you can get in with a family pass for $20.
