September is here and with it comes the back to school vibes that begin fall, but that doesn’t mean there’s anything less to explore. September brings harvest festivals in Edmonton and beyond, the chance to explore the stars and crisp fall weekends.

Harvest Festival at the Reynolds Alberta Museum | September 1-2
Climb into a pink Buick convertible or a gigantic Oil Pull tractor, cuddle up in our indoor drive-in or play the “Pursuit of McLaughlin’ game. There’s lots for kids of all ages to see and do! Hands-on play helps you understand how machines work!

Milky Way Days | September 2
Taking place over two days at two different locations, the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve’s 13th annual Star Party will be your gateway to the stars. Featuring volunteer astronomers to provide you with stargazing tips, guest speakers to cause you to marvel at the sky, and local musical performances to fill the air with festive spirit, this 2 day event will keep your whole family entertained.

Kaleido Family Arts Festival | September 14-16
Taking place over two days at two different locations, the Beaver Hills Dark Sky Preserve’s 13th annual Star Party will be your gateway to the stars. Harvest Fair at the Grain Elevator Museum | September 15
Come wind-down the 2018 summer season and support your community at the Spruce Grove Grain Elevator & Museum grounds. Have some free, farm-themed country fun! Old fashioned farm yard games, hay rides, Pop-Up Playground and Toddler Tent so children can create pioneer crafts and play games, there’s a cow milking competition, potato sack races and games with the Beavers, baby cows to adore, and more! The Prairie Ornamental Avicultural Association fall market-style bird sale at the Little Red Barn (fancy chickens, exotic pheasants, peafowl, waterfowl, game birds).

Mid Autumn Lantern Festival
This family-friendly festival begins at 2:00 pm with cultural performances, shadow puppets, and other activities. The milk jug lantern workshops will start at 1:00 pm. Lantern makers can enter for the best-judged lanterns until 4:00 pm. Winners will receive prizes at 6:00 pm.
A Lantern Parade around Churchill Square at 8:00 pm will guide the public to more than 1000 lighted wish boats to be floated in the City Hall reflecting pool at 8:30 pm

Edmonton Expo
The Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo (AKA: Edmonton Expo) is a three-day pop-culture convention for fans of all ages, held each September at the Edmonton Expo Centre. Attendees can shop hundreds of vendors and exhibitors, check out panels and workshops lead by industry stars, meet their favourite celebrities and creators, and celebrate what makes them geeky with thousands of other fans in cosplay. There is something for every fan at Edmonton Expo.
