It’s the weekend! It’s the weekend! That means no more school lunch making, at least for a Streetcouple of days. That in itself is something to celebrate this close to the end of the school year – but something else worth celebrating is happening here too. We’re getting closer and closer to those fun summer Edmonton festivals that make us oh-so-happy.
Here’s what to do in Edmonton this weekend (with kids)
The International Children’s Festival
Check out the daily schedule, and take part in family fun for everyone during the festival. Though there are ticketed shows, there is much that you can do, at the festival for free. Performers, fun set-ups for kids to explore, and of course, roving entertainment.

Miller Crossing Farmer’s Market Fun
The market is about more than shopping! In addition to shopping for fresh produce, baking products, meats and local business, there will be a lot of fun for both kids and parents such as an inflatable bouncy castle, face painting, cartoonist, balloon twister, live music and more. Miller Crossing Farmers Market will be a great learning experience for the kids interest in setting up their business at the market. Kids are encouraged to bring their business ideas and sign up for the Kids Business program.

Windermere Day
Join us for this family friendly free event! There will be tons of food, bouncy castle, sparkle tattoos and the Edmonton Public Library providing entertainment! Hope to see you there!

Black Gold Rodeo
Dust off your cowboy hats and boots and join the fun at the Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo at the Leduc Recreation Centre. The weekend of fun includes a family fun fair, parade, inflatables, crafts, face painting and so much more. Plus, there’s the midway – which is a fantastic way to kick off summer fun.

Farmer’s Days Rodeo
The biggest event of the year, the Stony Plain-Kinsmen Farmers’ Days Rodeo and Exhibition is a three-day festival jointly planned by the Town of Stony Plain and the Stony Plain Kinsmen Club. The weekend event features a rodeo, midway with carnival games and the Kids’ Korral, which includes a petting zoo, bounce room and activities area. Other activities include the General Store with more than 50 vendors; a pancake breakfast; the Rotary Parade and live entertainment.

Legacy Park Family Festival
The Legacy Park Family Festival is also the time when we officially welcome back our “Best Loved City SHEEP!” Come say hello to our sheep at 11:30 am as they parade up from the river valley to their summer home in the Peter T. Ream Historic Park. The Legacy Park Family Festival offers residents and visitors an exciting, hands-on day to celebrate Family and Community. Everyone can participate in fun family activities and enjoy fabulous entertainment.

Birch Bay Ranch Family Fun Day
Family Fun Day is an exciting, activity-packed day with something for everyone to enjoy. Come out to enjoy ziplining, rock climbing, rappelling and more on our state-of-the-art high ropes course (for kids — and adults — aged eight or older). Kids under eight can have a blast having pony rides and playing in bouncy castles! There will be hayrides all day for everyone of all ages, and a delicious barbecue. Cost: $20/family or carload of people

Watergun Battle (and more) at Holyrood Hose Down
The spray park “ribbon” cutting ceremony at 1:30, followed by a cascade of water activities for all ages, such as: Build-a-boat, Bubble Station, Water Sponge Launch, Water Gun Battle will be held in the skate rink. Some squirters available, or bring your own! Light refreshments available, as well as HCL memberships for sale.

Outdoor Movie Night: UP
Bring your family and friends to Disney’s UP, a movie night under the stars in support of Spark! Youth Camp! Seating will be set up on La Cite Francophone’s beatiful outdoor bowl on a first come first serve basis. Please feel free to bring a blanket to view the film from the hill! Movie will be screened at sunset (10pm approx) Warm drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from Cafe Bicyclette. Purchase of popcorn and candy will go directly to supporting Spark! Youth Camp. Suggested $10 donation per person.

Outdoor Movie Night: Zootopia
Free outdoor movie night – bring the whole family, invite your friends and neighbours! The field east of the community league will be open at 8:30 and the movie will start at 9:00. Bring your own blankets and chairs. There will be a cash concession on site with treats, beverages and hot dogs!

Ride the Ridge Bike Demo
United Cycle is hosting the first annual Ride the Ridge Bike Demo at SunRidge Ski Hill June 5th 9am-4pm. The event will include a variety of bike demo rides along with industry professionals and suppliers available on site to educate on their newest products. All bikes are free to demo on the trails permitting completion of a waiver & registration form! Other activities include a running race, children’s bike race, kids activity centre (Inflatable castle, games etc) prizes, giveaways, music & food trucks.
