Spring Break in Edmonton or March Break in Edmonton is just right around the corner. Whether you have signed up for a Spring Break kids camp or plan on spending the week exploring the city, we have 50 spring break activities in Edmonton for kids to inspire you:

Watch a $2.99 Movie | During Spring break, Cineplex is going to be screening $2.99 movies. You can choose from screenings of Fantastic Beasts and where to find them (read our review to help decide if you should take the kids), Trolls, Storks and the Secret Life of Pets.

Quixels Craft Day | Build your own design one Qixels at a time! Blast it with water, let it dry and create your very own pixel world of monsters, warriors, ninjas and more. Find it at your local Indigo store, Monday 11 am.

Klutz Craft Day | Join us as we introduce an exciting new line from the experts at Klutz: Klutz Jr. Young crafters are invited to let their imaginations run wild, as we transform egg cartons into barnyard animals. Find at your local Indigo store, Tuesday 11 am.

Hasbro Gaming Day | Try out some of our classic and new favourites from Hasbro Gaming including Fantastic Gymnastics, Toilet Trouble, Jenga and Operation. Find it at your local Indigo store, 11 am on Wednesday.

Dr. Suess Hat Toss | Celebrate 60 years of Dr. Seuss’ Cat In the Hat by making your very own paper-bag hat. Plus, join us for a Hat Toss! Thursday at 11 am, at your local Indigo store.

Play Doh Kitchen Creation Event | Serve up colourful, pretend meals with Play-Doh Kitchen Creations — where the best ingredient is imagination. Friday at your local Indigo store, beginning at 11 am.

Slide in your Snowsuit | Whether there is snow, or rain, head over to the Grizzly Bear Playground where our favourite slides in side of the hill, remain from before the playground renovation. These slides are incredible fun during the winter months, and when they’re especially slippery, you’re going to get especially wet. Messy, messy fun.

Waste Less Garden Party | Visit the Reuse Centre and make a magical treasure for your garden from the things that may have been considered just waste. You must register for this session ahead of time, but it’s only $8/child.

Snow Valley at Spring Break | Visit Snow Valley for a day of skiing during spring break and check out the games, hot chocolate around the fire and family fun to add on to a great day on the hill.

Dinosaur Adventures | Become a junior paleontologist and learn more about the amazing beasts that once ruled earth in this free library program during Spring Break at Edmonton Public Library.

Touch Tank and Critters | Join us on the ESSO Skywalk for hands-on activities and the opportunity to meet some of the TWOSE Critters during the weekends, and take part in great activities during spring break.

Find Treasure | And by find treasure, we mean hunt for a Geocache. Download the app and read our guide to geocaching with kids, to get started on your adventure hunting. Aside from the app (totally worth the cost) it’s a free activity that can get you outside for hours and hours of exploring and adventuring.

Wonderful Watercolors Class (8-12) | Learn fun watercolour techniques! From resists to special effects, you will develop unique ideas and images to reflect your personal style and bring your drawings to life in watercolour!

Eskimos Pancake Breakfast | A  pancake breakfast with special guest speaker Nate Coehoorn of the Edmonton Eskimos! This event is held at the Lakedell Ag Centre in Pigeon Lake. Tickets are only $5.00 at the door. Kids 6 and under free.

Make and Take | Visit your local Toys R Us store on March 25th for a fun Beauty and the Beast themed make and take activity. Limited quantities available, get there early. Celebrate a timeless tale at Toys“R”Us. Build and take home a LEGO® Mini Cogsworth and create and take home a Play-Doh Rose!

Tropical Kids Cooking Class | Today we’ll take your little ones on a culinary journey to the sunny tropics, with no passport required. We’ll help them prepare a menu of sunny selections, including Sausage & Pineapple Kebabs; Tossed by the Waves Greens & Pineapple Salad with Pineapple Dressing; a decadent Mango Rose Vanilla Cream Tart for dessert; and Keep Cool Banana & Pineapple Smoothies to wash it all down.

Frog Prince Puppet Show | Kaybridge Puppets brings the intriguing story of The Frog Prince to life as imagined by the Brothers Grimm which may surprise you and will definitely entertain you! A sassy princess and a pathetic frog meet and the fireworks begin. Be prepared to laugh at this free production at Edmonton Public Library.

Crankpots Kids Night Out | This night is for kids only. We will be offering dinner plate & small dip bowl. Great for veggies and dip or just use as a regular plate. Suitable for all ages your child can make a Keep Out sign or put their favourite band name on it or just a picture they like! Comes complete with wall hanger. $30 per child 2 kids from the same family $50. Parents will be able to drop their kids off and wander down Whyte ave and enjoy dinner & drinks or cake & coffee for a few hours. Kids must be school age. Please call & reserve your spot.

Giant Connect Four | Head over to the Rec Room and play Giant Connect Four. The kids love this game and competing against one another, while collecting tickets that they can redeem for prizes at the end of the day. Read our tips for visiting the Rec Room with kids, here. If you have lunch or dinner at Three10, you can get ten bucks worth of tokens, for five.

Spring Break Camps at Michaels | Daily, there are $2 drop-in art classes at your local Michaels store. It’s a fun way to get the kids out of the house, taking part in an art project, without breaking the bank. We think these classes are best suited for kids 5-8. Register ahead of time to make sure you get a spot.

Get Doughnuts | Visit Doughnut Party, one of the most popular places to grab doughnuts in Edmonton – now that it’s newly opened. It’s a splurge worthy trip to get something sweet and the kids are going to love the delicious flavours. Go early, they sell out quickly! Visit Holland Plaza

Party in the Street | Foundry Real Estate Co. will be hosting their annual Second Season Street Party from 11am – 8pm. We will be shutting down Rice Howard Way for the event to allow for family-friendly programming elements and street level extended patios for Craft Beer Market, McLeod Tavern, Sherlock Holmes Pub and Tres Carnales will be there cooking up their famous tacos. Programming elements include free wagon rides, a bouncy castle, EPL colouring corner, live music curated by the Chvrch of John, and more!

Try out the Ninja Course at Jump Park | One of our favourite places to play is Jump Park, in Sherwood Park. There’s the great Ninja Course, the kids playground and plenty of other things to do while you’re there (plus, there’s a big expansion coming soon!)

Explore a Close-by Canyon | Hard Luck Canyon, near Whitecourt is a great place to explore, in any season. The popular canyon is one of those easy places to get to, with a 1Km hike out there and back and with lots to explore while you’re inside. During the spring, with the wet weather, there’s even a running waterfall into the canyon.

Surf’s Up | Try your hand at Surfing at the Manluk Centre, you can drop in for a day of fun and try the surfing, at a fraction of the cost of other similar facilities. Plus, there’s fun at the waterpark for every single age.

Mudpie Parties Parents Night Out | Kick off March break with a Saturday night kids night out. Themed activities, crafts, bouncy castle, snacks and drinks provided from the CYC Cafe. Suitable for children aged 3-7 years.

Enroll in a Kids Cooking Camp | Start Spring Break off learning how to cook an Italian feast for the whole family! Kids in the Kitchen Half Day Camp 1 will be all about pasta! Participants will not only make fresh pasta from scratch, but will also make the sauce and meatballs to go with it.

Hang a Colorful Birdhouse | Hang up a colorful birdhouse in the forest. Stop by Michaels or the Dollar store and grab a birdhouse and your favourite bright colors of paint. Use the paint to create a bright colored birdhouse or bird feeder and hang it in the forest for the local birds to come and frolic. These are a lot of fun to point out when you’re walking through the area.

Get Free Admission to the Art GalleryOn the last Thursday of the month, you can get free admission to the Art Gallery of Alberta, between 6-9. Luckily, this one happens during March Break, making it a great place to explore for free and entertain the kids while you check out the latest installations and exhibits.

Jump in Inflatables | During March break, there are inflatables, mini stock hockey and other fun things for the kids to do during drop-in times at Millennium Place in Sherwood Park.

Marshmallow Roast | Head to your favourite park with firewood and get ready to have fun around the fire pit. Bring Marshmallows and a s’more kit, and enjoy an after dinner marshmallow roast with your favourite group of friends. Find a picnic site with firepit in Edmonton, here.

Cabane a Sucre | Make your own Cabane a Sucre and host a party or get together with friends. It’s easy, and literally takes only one ingredient (and a bit of snow) to create this piece of winter magic.

Explore New Trails | The McTaggart Sanctuary and the Sherwood Park Natural area are two of our favourite trails for spring exploring. With water and marsh at both of the trails, your bound to find something fun to explore. Plus, the trails are just long enough to get out for a good walk, without the kids getting too tired.

Discover John Janzen | There is free programming on the weekends, and on special occasion days, at John Janzen. Visit the centre and play in the fantastic indoor playground, and then take time to discover the trails outside, and take part in the programming.

Peter and the Starcatcher | Peter and the Starcatcher is the most hilarious-filled evening of madcap fun! In this Tony Award winning play, a dozen brilliant actors play more than 100 unforgettable characters using their enormous talent, ingenious stagecraft and the limitless possibilities of imagination. This swashbuckling grownup prequel to Peter Pan will have you hooked from the moment you let your imagination take flight.

Climb in Airplanes | Visit the Aviation museum and climb on airplanes, ride the small airplane riders throughout and learn a bit about the history of aviation in Alberta.

Explore Strathcona Wilderness Centre | Walk the boardwalks over the marsh and explore the twelve km of trails around the Wilderness Centre.

Calling all Superheroes | Put the super in superhero! Come in as an ordinary kid, and leave transformed into a caped crusader for justice at this free program for children between grades six and eight at Edmonton Public Library.

Climb the Walls | Stop by Vertically Inclined and let the kids climb the walls. It’s an easy drop in activity and you can get up there with them, or spot them from the bottom. Haven’t been climbing before? Don’t worry – they’ll get you ready to go.

Southgate Ivivva Drop-in | Bracelet drop in making with Goals with Jamie on March 29th, 2-5 and April 2, 12-3 in-store. On March 25, 12-3 there is complimentry henna in-store for girls, with an upcoming hair braiding session.

Spring Break Family Skate | Staying in town this spring break? Join us on Tuesday, March 28th from 3-4pm for a family skate at the Terwillegar Rec Centre. This event is open to everyone, of all ages, with entry by donation to the Stollery!   Please RSVP above to let us know you’re coming.

Wacky Wheatgrass | We’ll design a funny face on our planting pot, then fill it up with wheat grass seeds which will soon grow into wacky hair. Ages 5-9.
