Do you have a kid between 5-9 that wants to get down and dirty in the garden? Greenland Garden Centre is now offering fun, thirty-minute classes for kids to introduce them to edible gardening, with a project that they can create in-store, and take home.
These unparented sessions are a fun way to introduce kids to growing, and can give you a bit of time to browse through the greenhouse, and find something new to garden on your own.
Upcoming classes:
March 30, 11 am – Wacky Wheatgrass. Kids will design a funny face on htier planting pot, and fill it up with wheatgrass seeds that will grow into wacky hair.
April 2, 11 am – Berry plants. Kids will pot their own strawberry plant and learn everything they need to know, to grow them at home. They’ll even create a special stake to plant in the garden with them.
April 16, 11 am – The little tomatoes that could. Plant up a healthy tomato plant into its very own pot, then tell you a story about tiny tomatoes and the Great Ketchup Race.
April 23, 11 am – Mr. Bean. The kids will plant scarlet runner beans and create a mini trellis for the plant to climb. After, kids will listen to a story about beans and hummingbirds.
