City Hall on Family Day | City Hall Downtown
Enjoy performances by Hoffman & Brown, Nikolai the Juggler, a Concrete Theatre performance of the play The Early Bloomers, crafts, balloon sculptures and more! Then venture outside to go for a hayride and check out the Family Day games and activities on the Square. Food trucks will be on site.
Family Day at Elk Island Park | Elk Island Park
Get outside and embrace the winter season at Elk Island this Family Day. Pack a thermos and set out into a frosted landscape by snowshoe or cross country skis to explore one of the many trails in the park. Bring your own your skates and skate around Archer Island on Astotin Lake for a truly unique winter experience. When you’re ready for a warm up, settle in near the crackle of a campfire with hot chocolate in hand.
Family Day Frolic at Creekwood | Creekwood Community
Enjoy Cabane à sucre, horse-drawn wagon rides, soup, hot chocolate bar and coffee, skating, prizes for the whole family and more! Stay tuned for more information including a map of event activities. (February 19, 2017)
Highlands Family Fun Day | Ada Boulevard
Family skating, skiing and tobogganing (bring your own equipment) to the ponds at Highlands golf course. There will be family fun, a bbq and hot drinks available for purchase.
Family Day Winterfest | Vantage Point Community Church
Join us for our annual Family Day Winter Fest event. Come for service at 11am and immediatly following (12:30pm) wil be good food, games for all ages and great fellowship. Partake in Chilli, board games, snow painting, roasting marshmellows and so much more. Bring your own board game to play with others or just join in with the fun. Silver Skate Festival | Hawrelak Park

Family Day Celebration with Fireworks | Meadowlark Community
To celebrate Family Day there are going to be crafts for kids, face painting, hay rides, chili, hot dog roasts, skating, tobogganing and other family-friendly activities and Fireworks at 7pm, to finish off the celebration.
See a performance of Charlotte’s Web | Festival Place
This exciting, new musical version of Charlotte’s Web brings a new dimension to E.B. White’s beloved classic. With music and lyrics by Charles Strouse (Annie, ‘Bye, ‘Bye Birdie) and book by Joseph Robinette (national award-winning children’s playwright) the thrilling musical score includes “Who Says We Can’t Be Friends”, an enchanting duet between Wilbur and his new-found companion Charlotte; “Welcome to the Zuckerman Barn”, featuring all the story’s unforgettable animals in a hand-clapping, toe-tapping hoe-down; and “Summer”, a haunting, nostalgic chorus number which evokes a time and place from everyone’s childhood.

A day of free family fun awaits indoors at the Alberta Legislature. Enjoy live music and magic performances, join the History Hunt, take part in aboriginal games and dance, build a replica Legislature Building in the Lego Zone, meet Rocky the Ram and more! Free parking is available in the east underground parkade during event times.

Bundle up your family, beat the winter blues and “Get Closer” for some Family Day Fun! Stay warm while you visit the Polar Bear craft table or participate in the Animal Families scavenger hunt. The Reuse Centre is hosting a Family Day Open House event. Participate in a reuse crafting workshop, shop through the treasure trove of items or take a tour and learn more about reusing.
Free Skating | Outdoor Ice Rinks
Free skating is available at City of Edmonton outdoor ice surfaces in Hawrelak, Jackie Parker, Victoria and Castle Downs parks. Although Hawrelak Lake is closed, skaters are welcome on the Hawrelak Park alternate ice surface at Shelter #2, and the Freezeway skating trail is back this year, next to the Victoria Park Oval.
Library Fun | Edmonton Public Library
Visit your neighbourhood branch of the Edmonton Public Library this Family Day and take part in a unique array of special programs including movies, juggling, drum circles, puppet shows, storytelling, live music and more! Check out the complete schedule of events.

Celebrate Family Day with a free visit to the historic home of the first Premier of Alberta, Alexander Cameron Rutherford, and discover the unique personalities in the Rutherford family. Spend the day together, unplugged from screen time and technology. It’s the perfect time to break out the board games that you’ve been waiting to try. Don’t have a collection of board games at home, or want to try something new? Check out one of the local board game cafes in the city for a great selection, and a cheap outing for the fam-jam.

Snowman Festival Day in Morinville includes activities for the entire family, like Snowman games, a visit with Anna and Elsa, Family photo and selfie station, family skating, fire pits and more. estivities are throughout the city in Morinville – don’t forget to hit up the Cabane a Sucre station.
Spend it Unplugged | Spend the day unplugged with the family. Ditch the phones, the computers and the iPads and read one of your favourite books together, plan a family movie afternoon or get outside and try something new, like snow shoeing.
Everybody Gets to Play Family Day Festival | Strathcona County
Find activities at all Strathcona county recreation centres: Millennium Place, Kinsmen Leisure Center. Activities include face painting, recreational skate, swim and snowshoeing, cross country skiing and more. Regular admission applies.
Family Day Mini Carnival | Mill Woods Centre
Popcorn, barrel racing, crafts and games are part of the family day activities at Mill Woods centre. There’s a pop-up teddy bear clinic, and the chance to take part in the maker space with Edmonton public library, all afternoon.
Drop in Laser Tag | Laser City
All day long, find family-friendly drop in laser tag at Laser City. Don’t want to spend the day outdoors or seeking a break from the cold? Laser City and Edmonton Paintball are conveniently located downtown and are offering drop in laser tag (and paintball) all day long on Family Day.
