There’s a family fun day coming up at WELCA, where families can come out, explore and General admission ($11 adults, children under 6 are free) to the event includes onsite parking, sleigh ride to and from stable, horse watching, scavenger hunt, and self-guided tour. As part of this, there’s the guided pony rides that we had so much fun taking part in, last month.
Guided Pony Rides
Last month we surprised the kids with an activity they are still talking about. We got ready for the day and drove to the Whitemud Equine Learning Centre and had a mini horseback riding lesson/experience.
The whole thing lasted about 15 minutes, of on the horse time, and there were coloring sheets and hot chocolate inside. Outside, they were able to get up close and look at a couple of horses, and some goats, for the price of $15/each.
Well worth it, for the quick experience, where they were guided around the stable by one of the kids in lessons on one side, and one parent on another. Through the fifteen minute of riding, they did funny things like teaching the horse to stop ‘whooaaaaaa’, and putting their hands on their head.
The girls are still talking about their horses, Pearl and Alley Cat, and Olivia has asked to go to Whitemud Equine Learning Centre for a summer camp. It was a pretty fun introduction, and a fun way to spend an hour, with a surprise for the kids.
The next family fun day happens on February 15, between 11-2. Visit Eventbrite to get your tickets for the family fun event.
