The Art Gallery of Alberta announced something exciting this week. For children under the age of eighteen, admission to the gallery will be free of charge. This makes it even easier to take advantage of the programming for children at the gallery, and for families to visit exhibits, learning more about art and design.
In addition, admission will be free of charge for adults registered as post secondary students in Alberta, regardless of their age. For adults, it’s only $12.50 to gain access to the gallery.
The AGA’s regular operating hours are weekends 10 am – 5 pm and weekdays from 11 am – 5 pm, with extended hours to 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Any children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
This initiative is a fundamental part of the AGA’s new 5-year strategic plan. The plan is designed to:
- provide more access to Edmontonians and Albertans,
- increase the number of people who visit the gallery regularly,
- reach new audiences in Edmonton, Alberta, and beyond, and
- provide ongoing engaging visitor experiences.
Find AGA at 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square, with plenty of options for parking nearby.
