Guide: 2016 Family-Friendly Halloween Activities and Events in Edmonton

Halloween is right around the corner – so we’re sharing some of our favourite ways to celebrate with the kids in Edmonton. We’re featuring Halloween activities, Halloween events and Halloween parties for children in Edmonton.

Edmonton Zombie Walk | October 7, 2016
This year will be our 10th year anniversary and the theme will be Zombies of History. Any historic figure zombfied although the theme is not mandatory. First wave: 7 pm at Churchill Square we will be heading up Jasper Ave to the Legislature grounds, Second Wave: 9 pm we will be heading up the bridge then down 109 st and turning onto Whyte Ave ending at Gazebo Park (beside the Trans Alta Arts Barns). Kids are more than welcome to partake, in fact we encourage it, so feel free to bring the little ones!

Harvest Haunt | October 16, 2016
Care for a little adventure, come out dressed in your Halloween costume and enter a special draw for the Halloween Spirit. Kids get to “trick or treat” at all the show homes. Walk through our 5 brand new showhomes and collect your favorite items to enjoy the outdoor activities afterwards. There’s face painting, balloon artist, pumpkin painting (pumpkins free for first 200), photo booth, obstacle course lead by the Tri-Leisure Center TriACTIVE Life Team for the young and scarecrow building on hand. Feast on the pulled pork sliders and fresh pumpkin tarts, hot chocolate and coffee to keep you warm and toasty. If you’re are still hungry…Grab a tasty SweetTreat. 

Halloween Cake Decorating | October 20, 2016
Halloween Cake Decorating If you dare … Join us in the Cooking School to create your very own spooky Halloween cake. All gruesome guests will enjoy some Halloween Punch and treats from the graveyard. (Children 3 – 11 are welcome. Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied by an adult) $15.00/child (one child per cake)

Callingwood Market Pumpkin Carving | October 19, 2016
Visit the Kids Zone at the Callingwood Marketplace and carve a pumpkin, to bring home. Dress up in your favourite Halloween costume or apparel and come have treats, activities for the entire family and more on this fun day out for kids in Edmonton.

Boo at the Zoo | October 23, 2016

Haunted Pumpkin Festival | October 24-31
The Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm, which attracts families from across the nation to Edmonton’s countryside. An autumn outing to the pumpkin patch and this charming month-long Halloween festival is an annual tradition.

Halloween Howl Family Fun Night (Free)| October 27, 2016
Dress up in your best costume and join us in our free Halloween Howl Family Fun Night. Go on a haunted nature walk, play some ghostly games, and find out why all the animals that you might be scared of, are really amazing! Make sure to bring a chair and a reusable mug for some hair-raising hot chocolate.

Night of Fear Festival | October 28, 2016
Full Family Fun Saturday.  Saturday we invite all the little ghouls and goblins to come with mom and dad.  Get yourself a trick or treat bag on Saturday, and win a prize if you bring us your scavenger hunt card back full of stamps.  We have a pumkin decorating contest, as well as a kids costume contest!

Spooktacular Afternoon | October 29, 2016
Just in time for trick or treating – come and decorate a trick or treat bag. (Children under 8 bring your parent) Located at the Painting Studio, St. Albert Place, come and enjoy a fun, arts themed activity and get ready for Halloween.

School of Witchcraft and Wizardry | October 29, 2016
On Saturday, October 29th, 2016, from 10 am to 4 pm, Let’s Talk Science will be holding our fifth annual Harry Potter themed magic science fair! Interested in participating? Come have a fun day out, for free.

Mini Monster Bash | October 29, 2016
Crafts and activities are typically designed for children ages three to 10, but older children are also welcome to attend. Children will also receive a special glow-in-the-dark bag they can use when they go trick-or-treating, but limited quantities are available, so first come, first served. Children are invited to dress in their mini monster best! Please dress for the weather in case of lineups outside the Pavilion.

Spooktacular Yoga Halloween | October 30, 2016
Come dressed in your halloween costume and join Sara Hastings Morris as she takes you on a witch hunt yoga style. Complete with yoga, games, and a healthy treat.
This class is open to children ages 5 to 10 years.

Boo-tiful Night Halloween Party | October 30, 5:30 – 7 pm
Frightfully fun annual family Halloween bash. Join us for art activities & prizes! Kids must be  accompanied by an adult. Dress spook-tacularly: costumes encouraged to enhance the fun outing for families.

Dynamyx Gymnastics Halloween | October 30, 2016

Skate and Scare | October 30, 2016
Get in the spirit of Halloween with this FREE themed skate at Kinex Arena! Enjoy games, hot chocolate and timbits. This event is free thanks to the generous support from the Jenkins Family Tim Hortons.
