You know when you’re in the mood for pizza but you just want to try something new? Here, I’m sharing five of our favorite places for pizza when we’re dining out with the kids, from the classic choice, Famoso, to somewhere you may have overlooked, The Italian Center.
Famoso Pizzeria
Kid friendly pizzas, gelato to end the meal and ‘fancy drinks’. Those are three of the reasons that the kids enjoy our trips to Famoso. Since it’s not on Dad’s favorite place to eat list, we usually go for a girls night before a special concert or ballet. The flatbread and pizza to share is one of our favorite things, the dip is a must and the price is right. We love the movie + pizza deal to get a cheap family date night out. www.famoso.ca
Italian Centre
The low key environment and close-by playground scream kid-friendly, at this location where you can get some of the best gelato in the city when the meal is finished. Around $15 for a 12″, it’s an affordable, authentic and delicious thin crust pizza that’s easily going to satisfy the whole family (and if they don’t like pizza, the cafe has many other options. It’s kid-friendly, but around busy times you’re going to want to leave strollers outside, it gets packed in there. www.italiancentre.ca
Leva Cafe
Not sure how the kids were going to fare when it came to sitting down at one of our favorite date night haunts, we grabbed the pizza to go and brought it along to a nearby playground, eating it on a blanket the way that pizza should be eaten on a warm August night. Should you choose to stay, service is usually pretty quick. The kids were fans of the Quattro Formaggi and we went with the usual Meat Lovers, and grabbed some dessert – because every picnic needs a sweet ending. www.cafeleva.com
Slice Pizzeria
If you regularly eat in restaurants with kids, you’re going to know the value of having something to entertain while you’re waiting for the food. The Lego to play with before the meal arrived did the trick – and the pizza is a classic choice, thick crust, topping-generous that’s going to leave you full with lots to bring home for breakfast the next morning. www.slicepizzeria.ca
