Spray parks are an easy way for the kids to cool off – and come without the added expense on the summer budget. For free fun, you can pack a picnic and bring along friends to spend an afternoon at the playground, getting wet and having fun. This year, we’re sharing our favourite Edmonton spray parks, make sure to add them to your list of places to visit with the kids.
The Meadows Rec Centre | The latest Edmonton spray park that makes for our favourite place to play is at the Meadows, where the bright colored balls and spray park makes for not only for a great place to cool off – but a fantastic and fun photo backdrop for those summer memories. There’s not a lot of green space – so this one is great for a quick stop, but there are some benches.
Find it at: 2704 17 St
Remax Spray Park | The Pirate Ship themed park, with two slides, allow kids a chance to cool off and play at one of the best playgrounds in the city when they’ve finished. There are washrooms on site, tables and chairs, shaded areas, and many places to play.
Find it at: 2015 Oak Street, Sherwood Park
Downtown at Dusk | Colored lights and fountains flood the lights at dusk, making this place magical when it comes to staying up late and cooling off in the water. Bring water guns and buckets to make this water feature even more exciting.
Find it at: 10800 97 Ave
Forest Heights Tree Spraypark | With picnic tables, shaded areas and an adorable little Edmonton spray park that has a forest theme, you’re going to want to take a trip here this summer – if only for the great green space. Perfect for little kids, ours love running along the ‘river’ in the recycled playground cover.
Find it at: 10150-80 Street
Jackie Parker Spray Park| One of the biggest Edmonton spray parks that you can spend an afternoon at, this one’s great because of the many different things for kids to – meaning you can bring kids from a wide range of ages, and they’re all going to have something to do.
Find it at: 4540 50 street
Kinsmen Spray Park | Still one of our favourite of our Edmonton Spray Park dates because of the fact you can spend an entire day (or evening) at the park, you’re going to come for the spray park and stay for the enormous playground, green shack programs for the kids and the many fun places to play. We’re so glad they kept the old-slides, tucked away to the left of the playground, because you can zoom down them if you bring a blanket to slide on!
Find it at: 9100 Walterdale Hill
McKernan Spray Park | The natural style combined with the modern feel of this park helps make this spray park get on the top list of Edmonton splash parks, but you’re going to want to bring your own shade if you don’t get a spot under the gazebo. It’s bright, modern and has a fun ‘wave’ feel. Plus, it’s easily accessible through transit.
Find it at: 76th Ave and 112 Street
Castledowns Spray Park | Huge, and many things for different kids to play with, it’s worth a trip – but one that we try to bring at least a couple of parents to because it’s so busy, and it’s hard to keep track of the kids. There’s usually an ice cream truck, making it easy to find cool treats, or you could bring your own for a budget friendly outing.
Find it at: 11520 153 Avenue
The Legislature Pools | An easy way to wade through the summer months, there are three pools to choose from and the perfect space to spend the day for a picnic. Parents can cool off in the knee deep water, and kids can bring floating toys and spray guns to make afternoons even more fun. Plus, there’s always an ice cream stand nearby.
Find it at: The Legislature Grounds
